The following is a statement from Idaho
State Democratic Party Keith Roark regarding
the presumptive nomination of Sen. Barack Obama
as the Democratic Presidental Nominee:
"On behalf of the Idaho
Democratic Party I want to extend our
congratulations to Sen. Barrack Obama who
tonight has secured the Democratic nomination
for President of the United States. Idaho has
played an important role in Sen.Obama's
nomination and I know that he sincerely
appreciates our contribution.
"I also
want to congratulation Sen. Hillary Clinton on
her historic campaign for the White House. In
years to come her tireless fight for the
nomination will be regarded as a milestone in
American politics. She is a fighter and a
champion whose voice will be heard speaking out
for a better nation and a better world for
years to come.
"The general election
campaign for the Presidency is now under way.
It is clear that this nation cannot tolerate
another four years of George Bush's policies --
and that's all that John McCain offers.
We have squandered the good will and respect
America once enjoyed abroad. We have lost
the confidence of our own people in the ability
of their government to work on their behalf
rather than pander to special interests.
Americans are losing their jobs, losing their
homes and watching hopelessly as gas prices
rise above $4.00 per gallon. We need change,
fundamental change, change we can believe in --
and we need it now.
"The Idaho
Democratic Party is alive and well and ready to
carry the message of Sen. Barrack Obama to
every voter in this great state. This is
a great year to be a Democrat!"
R. Keith Roark, Chair
Idaho Democratic
Party
